MicroProse Grand Prix 4 Portable
Review :Grand Prix 4 is the fourth installment in the GP-Series by Geoff Crammond. However, this time around, Microprose had a much larger role in the development of the game.
For the first time in the Grand-Prix-Series, Grand Prix 4 had to go directly head-to-head with an EA-Sports offering, in the form of F1 2002. The flame wars and heated debate about which is better has not stopped since. Grand Prix 4 is not a revolution over Grand Prix 3, but more an evolution, as was Grand Prix 3 over Grand Prix 2. Today the game still lives on with plenty of new downloads and updates available to bring the game up to the latest season.

Review :The one area of the game where you couldn't possibly do any worse, however, is its multiplayer. Mortyr wasn't exactly a powerhouse in this respect, yet the sequel doesn't even live up to its predecessor's meager standard. All one of the multiplayer modes are accessed through a separate desktop launch screen. This brings you to a drab, sad-looking little dialog box where you can choose to host any of the game's measly four deathmatch maps or join a LAN game in progress. You can also connect to an Internet server, assuming you know its IP, that is. In one of the game's rare returns to classic Mortyr "D'oh!" form, there's no built-in server browser, a feature that was pretty standard in even crappy low-budget shooters from the Mortyr 1 era.

The gameplay allows for players of different skill levels to learn the ropes. Hardcore sim fans can pilot the UH-1B “Huey” while players who want slightly less technical play can choose to sit in the co-pilot’s seat. If you’re a total novice, you can take the gunner’s seat and let an AI pilot do the flying. You’ll often have other friendly choppers and troops to support, defend, or rescue, so paying attention to mission objectives is key. Initially daunting controls aside, it’s hard not to see and appreciate the developer’s superb attention to detail in much of the visual and aural presentation
The game puts the controls of the chopper in gamers’ hands as they struggle to complete battle type missions, all based on real events as documented by the US military in 1965. Gamers will instantly transform into fearless military soldiers as they go head to head with the Viet Cong Army as either a pilot, co-pilot, or gunner. While inside the replicated Huey chopper keep a close eye on the controls as well as on your enemy.
